Finish: Smooth tinned fruit flavours with a nice medium finish prolongs the enjoyment.
About this Tri Carragh whisky
Tri Carragh introduces this 12-year-old Teaninich, distilled in 2013 and aged in a first-fill Cheval Blanc wine barrique before bottling in 2025. Teaninich is a Highland distillery often overlooked in the single malt world, with most of its output destined for blends. Its distinctive production method - using a mash filter instead of the traditional mash tun – gives its spirit a clean, grassy, and slightly herbal profile that shines beautifully when paired with wine casks.
From one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious names, the Cheval Blanc cask adds refinement and depth to Teaninich’s crisp, green-apple spirit. At cask strength (54.6%), with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release is limited to just 280 bottles.
The nose is bright and fresh, with green grapes, white gooseberries, and floral zest reminiscent of a lemon grove. On the palate, initial freshness develops into more savoury notes - think lemon cheesecake with a gentle tartness and a touch of tannin for structure. Adding water brings out sweeter, juicier notes of sliced watermelon alongside the green fruit character. The finish is smooth, with lingering tinned fruit flavours and a medium length that prolongs the enjoyment.
This is a distinctive Highland single malt, where rare distillery character meets an exceptional wine cask finish.
