Linkwood 13 Year Old Tasting Notes

Nose: Opens with red berries and dark fruits, followed by vanilla and a creamy note - think vanilla scone with clotted cream & jam.

Palate: Dark redcurrants, figs, dates, nuts, and a subtle tannic grip. With water, the vanilla steps forward and a delicate rosewater aroma appears. The reduced palate becomes juicier and more tropical.

Finish: Soft caramel syrup.

About this Tri Carragh whisky

Tri Carragh presents this elegant 13-year-old single cask Linkwood, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2025. Matured in a first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, this limited release of just 206 bottles captures the lush, fruity richness that PX casks are famed for, perfectly complementing Linkwood’s naturally delicate Speyside spirit. Bottled at cask strength (52.1%), with natural colour and no chill filtration, this whisky is as authentic as it gets.

The nose opens with red berries and dark fruits, softening into vanilla and a creamy scone-with-jam character. On the palate, expect juicy layers of redcurrants, figs, and dates alongside toasted nuts and a subtle tannic grip from the sherry wood. With a drop of water, the vanilla becomes more prominent, a delicate rosewater note emerges, and the whisky takes on a juicier, almost tropical edge.

A characterful sherried Speyside malt, this Linkwood is a shining example of how PX cask influence can bring both richness and finesse.

The Three Pillars

Tri Carragh

Tri Carragh is Gaelic for ‘three pillars’. It’s a nod and celebration to the three fundamental core ingredients which are used in the creation of whisky. Water, barley and yeast have been used for centuries to produce Scotland’s finest spirit. When put through their paces, left to rest for years in an oak cask, they create a unique liquid, every single time. Independent bottler Tri Carragh select their single cask whiskies in a thoughtful manner, choosing the distillery and spirit which will encourage the most conversation.
