About this Lady of The Glen whisky
This Teaninich 21 Year Old from Lady of the Glen, founded by Gregor Hannah, is a refined Highland single malt that showcases the distillery’s lighter, more textural style through careful long-term maturation and a thoughtful finishing regime.
Distilled on 26 January 2004 and bottled on 15 October 2025, this whisky spent the majority of its life in a traditional hogshead before being finished for over 18 months in a refill barrique (cask 301146). This secondary maturation adds a layer of gentle fruit sweetness and spice without overwhelming the spirit - a subtle enhancement rather than a transformation.
Teaninich Distillery is one of Diageo’s largest and most technically distinctive sites, known for its use of a hammer mill and mash filter, producing a clean, slightly grassy and textural spirit. That character benefits from long ageing, where the distillate develops elegance and complexity without becoming heavy.
Here, the whisky presents as medium-bodied and well-balanced, combining floral, fruity, and spicy elements in a composed and evolving profile. On the nose, it opens light and fresh before revealing desiccated coconut, honeysuckle, and a gentle hint of tobacco. The palate builds gradually, with cinnamon apple, red liquorice, and vanilla custard, followed by deeper notes of spiced biscuit and coffee that emerge with time in the glass. The finish is subtle but persistent, with oak spice softening into notes of pain au chocolat and chamomile tea.
Bottled at cask strength (55.2% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that rewards patience and careful sipping. With an outturn of 280 bottles, it offers a mature and quietly complex take on Teaninich, one that highlights the distillery’s understated character and the benefits of measured, long-term cask management.
