About this Lady of The Glen whisky

This Port Charlotte 20 Year Old from Lady of the Glen, founded by Gregor Hannah, is a rare and mature example of heavily peated Islay spirit, showcasing both the power of Port Charlotte and the elegance that comes with extended ageing.

Distilled on 26 October 2005 at Bruichladdich Distillery and bottled on 18 February 2026, this whisky has spent its life in a bourbon barrel (cask 1174). Over two decades, the cask has allowed the spirit to soften and integrate, bringing layers of sweetness, vanilla, and gentle spice while preserving the unmistakable character of Port Charlotte’s peat.

Port Charlotte is known for its dry, smoky profile, often carrying floral and slightly medicinal nuances beneath the peat. With time, that intensity evolves into something more composed and refined. Here, the long maturation has mellowed the smoke, transforming it into a more rounded, expressive style; still unmistakably Islay, but with greater balance and depth.

On the nose and palate, toasted brioche and BBQ pineapple create a compelling interplay of sweetness and smoke, while a subtle note of camphor adds complexity and a cooling, aromatic lift. The bourbon cask influence brings a soft honeyed character and structure, supporting the whisky rather than dominating it.

Bottled at cask strength (58.3% ABV), with natural colour and without chill filtration, this is a whisky that retains both intensity and texture, while offering the poise that only long ageing can deliver. With an outturn of just 203 bottles, it stands as a genuinely limited and sought-after release.

A beautifully mature Port Charlotte - smoky, balanced, and complex - offering a refined take on one of Islay’s most distinctive styles.

Meet The Founder

Gregor Hannah

Lady Of The Glen was founded by, and is still run by, Gregor Hannah. From a young age, Gregor developed a keen interest in whisky, influenced by his father, a Scottish piper. His father would often receive bottles of whisky as tokens of appreciation for his performances at various celebrations, including weddings and Burn's Nights. Fascinated by the wide array of bottles, each with its own unique colours, shape, and label, Gregor developed a strong appreciation for scotch whisky.

Two and a half decades later, while working at a bar, Gregor's learned about independent bottling. Here, he gained in-depth knowledge about the history and techniques of sourcing and bottling unique whiskies. This led him to establish Lady of The Glen in 2012. The brand is independently owned and specialises in sourcing and bottling rare, single-cask whiskies from various regions in Scotland.
