This Amrut 6 Year Old from Fib Whisky, crafted by whiskymakers Iain and Andrew Mundy, is a bold and fruit-forward expression that highlights both the intensity of Indian maturation and the impact of a carefully judged wine cask finish.

Distilled at Amrut Distillery and bottled in 2025, the whisky began its life in an ex-rye barrel, building a structured base of spice and sweetness. It was then finished for 8 months in a first-fill ruby port barrique, a cask choice that introduces vibrant red fruit, depth, and a velvety texture. In India’s warm climate, even a relatively short finishing period can have a pronounced effect, and here the port influence is both immediate and well-integrated.

Amrut’s naturally rich and fast-maturing spirit provides the perfect foundation for this kind of cask work. The rye barrel brings a dry, gently spiced backbone, while the ruby port adds a layer of lush fruit without overwhelming the whisky’s core identity.

On the nose, the port influence is clear, with fresh berries and pomegranate seeds lifting the aroma. The palate becomes richer and more indulgent, with velvety figs and a rounded sweetness that feels full and satisfying. The finish is notably long and slightly drier than expected, with the fruit gradually receding into a lingering, semi-dry warmth that keeps the whisky balanced.

How much is shipping?

Shipping charges are calculated during checkout, depending on where you live and how many bottles you’re buying. It's usually more cost effective to ship two or more bottles, particularly for international orders. The perfect excuse to treat yourself to an extra bottle!

What about taxes?

All alcoholic products sold by TopWhiskies are sold subject to UK alcohol tax, which is already included in the price.

UK sales are subject to VAT (currently 20%), which is included in the price. Sales outside of the UK are not subject to this tax, and international prices do not include it.

We use a specialist US shipper who sorts out US taxes. These costs are factored into the US shipping charges. So shipping may look pricey, but remember it covers your taxes as well, so there'll be no further bills to pay. US Customs takes two to three weeks to complete, after which your parcel will arrive at your door as if it were a normal delivery.

For all other territories, including those in Europe, please note: your order could be subject to local sales taxes and duties upon arrival in the destination country. All additional charges are the responsibility of the recipient. As customs policies vary widely from country to country, TopWhiskies has no control over these charges, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. If you refuse to pay any import duties and taxes, this could result in the goods being destroyed by customs or being returned back to us - any refund offered would include a deduction of our costs.

Which couriers do you use?

In the UK we use Royal Mail, Parcelforce and APC. US orders are sent via UPS. International orders use FedEx and DHL. Orders are despatched from our UK warehouse Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.

Carbon neutral?

Yes, all our deliveries are carbon neutral. We work with Planet to estimate the carbon impact of each delivery, and then purchase carbon removal credits to offset the emissions.

Meet the Team

Iain and Andrew Mundy

Founded by the late-Aedan Burt and Iain Mundy, Fib Whisky is now run by Iain and his brother Andrew.

With an 'all hands on deck' approach, Iain looks after production, the warehouse, and sales. Iain is also a qualified musician and freelances in a folk-pop duo, Braw, who released their debut album in 2021. Braw even penned an anthem about the amber nectar, Whisky in Hand, which featured in the Scottish charts.

With a background in gin distillation and Scottish spirit experiences, Andrew’s passion is in tasting, crafting and blending spirits. He brings his knowledge to aid the cask selection and blending. Andrew also sings and plays in Braw, and has experience singing across Scotland.
