Tamnavulin 13 Year Old tasting notes
Nose: Soft and slightly sulky at first, like it’s still waking up. Give it a minute and it’s all apricot Danish, ginger snaps and the kind of orange marmalade that only appears in posh breakfast hampers.
Palate: Silky, warming and just a bit indulgent. Honeyed cheerios, candied citrus and a flick of baking spice. There’s a quiet hum of Moscatel doing its sweet thing in the background, like a nonchalant late comer to a party - effortlessly cool and somehow expecting a thank you for turning up.
Finish: Hangs around like it forgot why it came into the room. Sweet oak settles in, followed by a lazy lick of wine gums that feels more accidental than intentional. Not trying to impress, just happy to be here.
About this Cut Your Wolf Loose release
Cut Your Wolf Loose x ZombieSqueegee – Tamnavulin 13 Year Old (Release #13) is a whisky that plays by its own rules. Matured in a Moscatel pipe and bottled at cask strength (51.2%), it’s a Speyside single malt that’s equal parts charm, warmth, and understated swagger. Only 470 bottles were produced, each paired with artwork by the brilliantly offbeat ZombieSqueegee.
Tamnavulin’s naturally soft, fruit-forward spirit finds a perfect partner in Moscatel, a sweet fortified wine that adds layers of honey, apricot, and citrus brightness without overshadowing the distillery’s easy-going character.
On the nose, it starts shy - soft and slightly sulky - before blooming into aromas of apricot Danish, ginger snaps, and orange marmalade worthy of a luxury breakfast hamper. The palate is silky and warming, rich with honeyed Cheerios, candied citrus, and gentle baking spice, while the Moscatel hums quietly in the background, effortlessly adding depth and sweetness. The finish is relaxed and lingering, with notes of sweet oak and lazy wine gums that hang around like they’ve nowhere better to be.
Unpretentious but deeply satisfying, this is a dram that doesn’t need to shout; it just turns up, looks great, and lets the flavour do the talking.
