Tormore 10 Year Old Tasting Notes
Colour: Ruby tanned leather.
Nose: A dry espresso coffee note jumps out of the glass to greet you. Dark chocolate, but not sweet. There is even a slightly savoury, meaty note to the nose.
Palate: Incredibly rich and deep. It is smooth as silk with a sticky fruitiness that isn’t overly sweet. A really complex dram bursting with character and still with a hint of espresso.
Finish: It just keeps going and going. A real treat of a finish as that dried fruitiness fades away to the perfect final note.
About this Dram Mor whisky
This Tormore 10 Year Old from Dràm Mòr is a strikingly characterful Speyside single malt that shows a very different side of the distillery’s typically elegant, fruity spirit. Distilled in 2015 and bottled in 2025, the whisky was finished in a first-fill PX sherry barrique, a smaller-format cask that accelerates interaction between spirit and wood, intensifying flavour while retaining balance. Bottled at cask strength (56.2%), with natural colour and no chill filtration, this release is limited to 276 bottles.
Tormore is best known for producing a clean, weighty spirit with a gentle fruitiness that forms a strong foundation for secondary maturation. In this case, the PX barrique has pushed the whisky into deeper, darker territory, layering richness and savoury complexity over the distillery’s underlying structure. The smaller barrique format allows the sherry influence to integrate quickly and decisively, creating a whisky that feels mature beyond its years without tipping into excessive sweetness.
The nose is immediately arresting, led by dry espresso coffee and unsweetened dark chocolate. Rather than sugary richness, the aromas lean savoury and roasted, with an intriguing meaty edge that adds depth and seriousness. On the palate, the whisky is smooth and silk-textured, delivering dense, sticky dried fruit flavours that remain controlled rather than cloying. The espresso note returns, tying the palate neatly back to the nose and reinforcing the whisky’s dark, brooding character. The finish is long and rewarding, gradually unwinding as the dried fruit richness fades and leaves a perfectly judged final note that invites another sip.
A bold, grown-up PX-finished Speyside malt that will appeal to drinkers who enjoy depth, savoury complexity, and a sherry influence that favours structure over sweetness.
