About this Woodrow's whisky

Woodrow's of Edinburgh released this bold 15-year-old single malt from Glen Elgin as part of their Warehouse Reserve range, created by founder Woody Tan. Distilled on 29 September 2009 and bottled on 5 March 2025, this Speyside whisky was finished in a first-fill Bordeaux red wine cask (cask 806811), bringing a rich burst of dark berries and gentle tannins to Glen Elgin’s soft, fruity spirit. Bottled at a robust cask strength of 61.3%, with natural colour and no chill filtration, the cask yielded just 241 bottles. This is a powerful and elegant release with a vibrant twist from red wine cask maturation.

Meet The Founder

Woody Tan

Originally from Hong Kong, Woody Tan has lived in Scotland since 2011. He studied an MSc in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt University, and then went into the cask trade and warehouse keeping. While looking after casks, he started to discover gems that he felt had to be shared with fellow whisky lovers. He bottles these special casks under his Woodrow’s of Edinburgh label.

Woody has an excellent palate, and a knack for uncovering really flavoursome casks. He’s also a wizard when it comes to cask experiments, and has released some interesting cask-finished whiskies.
