About this Little Brown Dog release

Little Brown Dog's first 700ml release of fan-favourite Wee Mongrel whisky! This time aged for 21 years in oloroso and PX. Cask strength, ex Edrington stock as before but there is a grain component to it. Andrew and Chris don't have the detail to give the precise breakdown otherwise they'd provide it but be assured this is still rich and predominantly malt content. Is it good enough to be a wee mongrel? They wouldn't dare bottle it if it wasn't, and they're proud to call this batch 3.

Original artwork by local artist Katie Watson as on the previous releases but this time in a fetching orange!

Meet The Founders

Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid

Little Brown Dog Spirits was founded by Dr Andrew Smith and Chris Reid. They run an independent bottler and micro-distillery based in rural Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

They take their name from Andrew’s beloved dog, whose nickname was the little brown dog. She followed him everywhere on all his distillery visits and was his constant companion. She passed away in 2022 aged 15 but lives on in spirit. Two more little brown dogs, Winnie and Peedie joined the team in 2020 and 2023.

Chris and Andrew started Little Brown Dog in 2018. Based on Chris’s farm they combine a passion for their surrounding area with in-depth knowledge (read intense geekery!) of distilling and cask maturation.
