Ed's review

Colour: Natural colour, bronze or medium amber.

Nose: Jamaica ginger cake. Sticky toffee pudding with dates. Dark treacle flapjack, sweet with that cereal coming through. Soft brown sugar, dark and moist. Gentle spices, cloves and cinnamon. 70% cacao dark chocolate.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Sherry goodness. Dark red fruits - macerated blackcurrants and blackberries with stewed plums. More of that soft, sweet, gently spiced Jamaica ginger cake. Toasted malt loaf smothered with brown butter. Soft spices in the background.

Finish: Medium to long finish. Orange peel. Fruit and nut dark chocolate. Gently warming, and inviting another sip.

About this Whiskymaker's Edition

The Whiskymaker’s Editions is one of The Lakes Distillery's key whisky collections. This series of one-off whiskies showcase whiskymaker Dhavall Gandhi's sense of adventure.

Each Edition is a diversion from The Lakes sherry-led house style. It is an expression of creative freedom. A chance for Dhavall to let his instinct, experience and inspiration roam free. The Editions lean heavily on Dhavall's skills as a blender. They showcase how careful blending throughout the whiskymaking process can create nuanced and complex flavours.

Mosaic has a mellow, rustic elegance in keeping with its cosmopolitan influences. It's inspired by the Silk Road, the ancient avenue of east west trade and cultural exchange. Mosaic unites eclectic influences and flavours in a singular, sophisticated expression. From crisp autumn days in the west, where sharp air surrenders to the aromas of woodfire and spent leaves. To the heady spice of Moorish bazaars. And onwards into delicate oriental wood nuances evoking the wisdom of Japanese temples.
