Best Tesco Single Malt Whisky Offers and Deals
The first whisky I bought was from Tesco. In fact, for many years I’d regularly scan the aisle of Tesco for new whiskies to try. They have a decent range of single malts to explore as you enter the world of scotch, and there are often some decent Tesco whisky offers and deals available.
But where do you start? What single malt should you go for? If you’re looking to try something other than the mainstays of Famous Grouse, Chivas Regal, Jameson, or Jack Daniels, then you’re in the right place. Here are my top ten best Tesco single malt whisky recommendations, in alphabetical order and with their prices at time of writing. Several of these often have special deals for Tesco Clubcard holders, so it's worth seeing what's on special offer - you can likely find at least one of these drams at a bargain price.

Tesco whisky tasting notes
Aberlour 12 year old is a single malt, double matured Scotch whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland. It is first matured in American ex-bourbon casks, and then in Sherry oak casks. This gives a rich, smooth tasty to this single malt whisky, with fruity berry and dark chocolate notes.
Ardbeg 10 year old is a peated single malt whisky from the island of Islay off the coast of Scotland. It is a high quality entry point to Islay whiskies: starting soft and mellow, with spices and peat smoke growing boldly, with a long finish.
Balvenie Doublewood 12 year old is a Speyside single malt whisky aged in two kinds of cask. It is first matured in refill American oak casks before being transferred into first fill European oak Oloroso sherry butts for an extra nine months maturation. A classic, and delicious, dram.
Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair is a sherried whisky from Islay in Scotland. It shares some characteristics with Bunnahabhain 12 year old. Stiùireadair has creamy and coastal notes, together with caramel, nuts, dried fruit and spice.
Glenfiddich 15 year old Solera is a Speyside whisky, from a distillery nextdoor to The Balvenie Distillery. It’s younger sibling Glenfiddich 12 year old is also a classic whisky you’ll find at Tesco, but this 15 year old Solera delivers even more flavours; full bodied and rich with notes of sherry oak, marzipan, and spice.
Glenmorangie Lasanta is based on another single malt you’ll find at Tesco, Glenmorangie The Original, but takes the classic 12 year old and ages it further in a combination of oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The result is a bold, rich whisky with sweet, fruity notes.
Highland Park 12 year old from the island of Orkney off the north coast of Scotland is regarded as a gold-standard single malt whisky. It is sweet with heater honey and has a warming, silky mouthfeel; a classic scotch.
Laphroaig 10 year old is an Islay single malt scotch. You could describe it as being a bit like marmite. It has a bold, strong flavour profile: a smoky taste, followed by a hint of seaweed and a surprising sweetness. You’ll either love it, or hate it; but you’ll definitely know you’ve tried it!
Old Pulteney 12 year old describes itself as ‘the Maritime Malt’. Old Pulteney is on the coast of Scotland in the Highlands. As you may expect from a whisky called the Maritime Malt, it will remind you of salty ocean spray, balanced against sweet, floral and citrus flavours.
Talisker 10 year old is an award winning single malt whisky from the Isle of Skye. It has whiffs of peat smoke and ocean spray which are balanced by orchard fruits of apples and pairs, with a barley note and a little wood spice.
